Sponge Bath This delightful work purports to be a French translation of the works of Hippocrates, the Greek father of modern medicine. It is all tongue in cheek, of course, to provide the opportunity to create highly decorative and slightly risquй prints of ancient medical treatments. Published in four volumes between 1932 and 1934 by Javal et Bourdeaux, the pouchoir prints were illustrated by the famous Art Deco artist Joseph Kuhn-Regnier. In total, only 2,335 sets were printed. Ours numbers #2179 and is on a high quality creamy wove paper called Velin de Marais. Each print measures approximately 9 inches wide by 11 inches long and is in excellent condition with brilliant coloring so typical of pouchoir prints. This extravagantly vivid coloring was created by a process wherein single layers of color were added by hand to a lithograph using a stencil, in a precursor of the silk screening technique which is now widely used for art prints. http://www.panteek.com/Hipocrate/index.htm Leisurely Dalliance Прикрепления:

The healing thermal waters of the Gellért Hill have been known since the Middle Ages. The infamous Sáros Bath had stood here but was brought down during the construction of the Franz Joseph Bridge and a call for tenders to replace it was announced in the first decade of the 20th century. The late Art Nouveau spa and hotel designed by Artúr Sebestyén, Ármin Hegedűs and Izidor Sterk opened in 1918, while its famous wave pool was completed in 1927. Прикрепления:
